SOSSA DECIDES: Voting Begins Amid Hope Of Credible Elections

Members of the Social Science Students’ Association (SOSSA) at Delta State University, Abraka have commenced the casting of ballots for their preferred candidates amid hope that the election will be credible and reflective of their popular will.
The election, which is currently holding at the Convocation Arena at Site 3 of the university’s main campus, is meant to usher in new leaders of the association for the 2023/2024 academic session.
DELSU Echo Reporter at the venue of the event writes that the electoral process witnessed a massive turn out of students who have been at the venue since 9:00 am.
The positions being contest for include the offices of the President, Vice President, Secretary General, Director Finance and Director of Sports of the association.
Prior to the commencement of the voting process, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Ese Umukoro had briefed the electorates on the mode of voting, assuring that his team will ensure a free, credible and hitch-free.

Commenting on the issue, outgoing President of SOSSA said, “the processing is looking credible and the turnout is very credible.
“This seems to be the largest since my stay on campus.
“The handling of the process by the electoral committee and the involvement of students are all impressive.
“I think we have made significant progress in terms of credibility and organisation”.
On who is anointed to succeed him, he said democracy is a based on popular suffrage, and that all the aspirants are his candidates and constituents.
“Whoever the crown fits should wear it”, he declared.
Also commenting on the process, the Senator representing Faculty of the Social Sciences at the Students’ Union Government (SUG) level, Comr. Ebuka Onyeuba described the process as “fair, stunning and very credible”.
Onyeuba said even though the process was still ongoing, the level of coordination and decorum maintained by both the electoral committee and the electorates have been impressive.
DELSU Echo continues to monitor the process will report details as soon as they are available.
