Oborevwori Assigns Portfolio To Commissioners, Excludes Info, Justice
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has assigned roles to the newly inaugurated Commissioners in the state.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, the 26 commissioners were assigned to different offices after their swearing in on Tuesday.
However, two key ministries in the state’s administration- the ministries of information and justice- were left without Commissioners. According to the statement, Mr. Daniel Odinigwe has been designated as the Commissioner for Science and Technology; Mrs. Joan Onyemaechi will oversee Technical Education; and Jerry Ehiwario has been appointed as the Commissioner for Power and Energy.
Former Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, has been reassigned to head the Works ministry, specifically focusing on Rural Roads, while Dr. Kingsley Ashibuogwu will serve as the Commissioner for Primary Education.
Mr. Michael Anoka’s new responsibility is to oversee Urban Renewal, while Princess Pat. Ajudua has been named Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community, and Social Development.
Chief Darlington Ijeh will take charge of the Culture and Tourism portfolio, and Chief Fidelis Okenmor Tilije will continue as the Commissioner for Finance, a role he held during the previous administration under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Funyei Manager has been appointed as the Commissioner for Special Projects, and Mr. Godknows Angele will be overseeing the Housing Ministry.
Further appointments include Dr. Joseph Onojaeme for Health, Chief Emamusi Obiodeh for Lands and Survey, and Mr. Perez Omoun for Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Miss Orode Uduaghan has been tasked with the responsibility of overseeing Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Humanitarian Support Services, Dr. Isaac Wilkie has been named Commissioner for Water Resources, while Mr. Agbateyimiro Weyinmi will handle the Youth portfolio.
Mr. Samuel Oligida will take on the role of Commissioner for Trade and Investments; Prof. Tonukari Johnbull will lead the Higher Education Ministry; and, Mr. Etagherure Terry is designated as the Commissioner for the Bureau of Special Duties.
The announcement additionally confirmed the return of Mrs. Rose Ezewu as Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, while Jamani Ejiro will be responsible for the Environment ministry.
Other appointments include Mr. Onoriode Agofure as Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Izeze Reuben for Works (Highways & Urban Roads), and Chief Vincent Oyibode as Commissioner for Oil & Gas.
Finally, Mr. Sonny Ekedayen will oversee the Economic Planning portfolio.
