K-Dramas To Premiere On AIT In Sept
Prepare to be captivated by the mesmerising allure of Korean entertainment as two highly acclaimed Korean dramas, “Penthouse” and “The Fiery Priest,” are poised to make their grand entrance on African Independent Television (AIT) this coming September.
Mr. Kim Changki, the Director of the Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria (KCCN), announced this thrilling development in Abuja on Thursday.
The primary goal is to offer Nigerians a delightful taste of Korean culture and entertainment that has enraptured audiences worldwide.
In a special sneak preview event held at the Centre on August 23rd, a select audience was treated to a glimpse of these two remarkable series.
This occasion coincided with the monthly Korean Cultural Day, a testament to the growing appreciation of Korean culture in Nigeria.
Changki elaborated that K-Dramas, known for their insightful portrayal of Korean life, are an essential part of the KCCN’s efforts to promote Korean culture in Nigeria.
He emphasized that the aim is to not only entertain but to also foster a deeper understanding between the two cultures.
“In the month of May, two Korean animations were aired on AIT; and by next week, the two dramas will be air on AIT; this is a way spreading Korean lives and culture.
“It would have been a good thing for Nigerian actors and their counterparts from Korea to collaborate on set, but because Nigeria and Korea are far apart, they need time to make it happen.
“Korean movie industry needs to understand Nollywood and vice versa, establish relationship and interact more to make that happen.
“Recently, I recommended about four people to go to Korea and participate in a training course; that is one of the things we do to foster interactions to get us to where we want to be,’’ Changki said.
Changki proudly introduced the upcoming shows: “Penthouse S1,” a series penned by Kim Soon-ok and directed by Joo Dong-min, delves into a gripping tale of real estate and education warfare.
The show brilliantly unfolds the stories of women who resort to sinister tactics to protect themselves and their loved ones in a world driven by greed and revenge.
The second offering, “The Fiery Priest,” introduces an unorthodox priest grappling with anger management, aided by a rookie detective and an ambitious prosecutor.
Together, they unravel a perplexing murder involving a senior Catholic priest.
Changki narrated that this ex-military priest turns to his covert past to avenge the tragedy that led him to priesthood while upholding his religious calling.
The debut of these captivating dramas is scheduled for September 1st, with episodes airing every Friday from 3:00 PM to 3:50 PM on AIT.
Additionally, audiences can catch the shows on GOtv, DStv, and Startimes, ensuring that the magic of Korean storytelling reaches a wide spectrum of viewers.
