According to NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the appointment was made with immediate effect, following the approval of the NFF Executive Committee.

“The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles,” Dr. Sanusi said in a statement.

Labbadia’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to inject fresh ideas and expertise into the Super Eagles, with the aim of improving the team’s performance in international competitions.

The German coach boasts an impressive CV, having won the DFB-Pokal with 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1989-90 and the Bundesliga with FC Bayern Munich in 1993-94. He was also capped twice for the German national team.

Labbadia’s last managerial role was at VfB Stuttgart, where he honed his skills and developed a reputation as a good tactician.

The NFF is confident that Labbadia’s experience and expertise will be invaluable in shaping the future of Nigerian football.
