Abduction Ends in Tragedy: University Student Dies
Christiana Idowu, a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been tragically murdered by her abductor.
Idowu, who was in Lagos for industrial training at the University of Lagos, was kidnapped between Ikorodu and Yaba.Idowu was last seen leaving her home in Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, before her abduction.
Security agencies have arrested the suspect following an intense investigation.
According to a viral post on X by @letter_to_jack, intelligence agents traced the abductor through BVN and bank account details linked to the ransom payments made by Idowu’s family.
The post details that the abductor initially contacted Idowu’s parents on August 19, 2024, demanding a ransom of N1,500,000. After receiving a partial payment of N350,000, the abductor requested further information, leading to a halt in communication.
The investigation revealed that the suspect used various bank accounts to launder the ransom money and had a mutual online relationship with Idowu.
Tracking the suspect’s phone activity led to his arrest in Ikorodu by Nigerian Army personnel.
During the arrest, authorities found crucial evidence, including Idowu’s phone and details linking the suspect to the crime.
On September 3, the suspect confessed to killing Idowu and burying her in his house.
Reports suggest that the suspect had similar violent incidents in his past, including the deaths of an ex-girlfriend and his sister.
The case has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many Nigerians calling for justice using the hashtag #JusticeForChristiana.
