FG Hikes Passport Fees to N50,000, N100,000

Federal government (FG) increases the cost of obtaining the Nigerian passport.

Immigration spokesman, Kenneth Udo, revealed that the reason for the increase was to ensure integrity.

Starting September 1, 2024, officials will implement the review of the new fees.

The 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity will now be sold for Fifty Thousand Naira (N 50,000) Only as opposed to Thirty Five Thousand Naira (N 35,000) that it was charged for.

This increase extends to the 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity, to be sold at One Hundred Thousand Naira (N 100, 000) Only, previously sold Seventy Thousand Naira.

He added that the fees remain fixed for those in diaspora, noting that the Immigration Service Guarantees Nigerians of their continuous commitment to transparency and quality service delivery.
