Edo Suspends School Resumption Over Fuel Price Hike

The Edo State Government has announced an indefinite postponement of school resumption across the state in response to the recent increase in fuel prices.

The decision affects both public and private schools.

In a memo issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, the government revealed that the resumption date, originally set for September 9, 2024, has been postponed until further notice.

Akin-Longe stated, “The Edo State Government announces the postponement of all school resumption activities due to the current tension and challenges arising from the recent hike in fuel prices.

Schools will remain closed until further notice.”

The government has advised parents, guardians, and caregivers to closely monitor their children and wards during this period of uncertainty and heightened tension caused by the fuel price increase.

This decision underscores the state government’s concern for the welfare and safety of students amid the broader economic impact of the fuel price hike.

It reflects the challenges faced by families and the community as they adjust to the new economice realities.
