Sexagenarian Docked For Allegedly Stealing 4 Bottles of Wine
A 62-year-old man, Sunday Adesoye, appeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, facing charges of theft for allegedly stealing four bottles of Cousins red wine valued at N27,000. Adesoye pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Olasunkanmi Bamikole, the defendant committed the offence on August 12 at 8 am in Ado-Ekiti, stealing the wine bottles from Apro Pharmacy and Supermarket Ltd.
The prosecutor argued that the offence contravened Section 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The Defence Counsel, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, requested bail for her client, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until September 23 for mention.
