A middle-aged man, Mr Cyril Obarakpor, who recently stirred public attention for marrying two women simultaneously, has explained his rare action proves that partners in a polygamous home can easily live together in harmony.

Obarakpor, who hails from Oria-Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, said love is the most crucial ingredient in a marital relationship, adding that the perceived acrimony associated with polygamy is avoidable if partners find genuine love and peace in themselves.

“Marrying two women at the same was, first, a personal choice, and I found love in both of them, which is why I decided to marry them on the same day”, he said in an exclusive interview with DELSU Echo.

“Also to make it real that polygamy is not a do-or-die affair; it is all about love.

“If you are capable of taking care of both families and they find love and peace in you then there is no need to worry or fight over anything.

Commenting on the burning issue of polygamy, Obarakpor, who holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Political Science from Delta State University, Abraka, admonished that polygamy should not be misconstrued as an offence against humanity, noting that any man with the capacity of loving more than one woman should be allowed to do so.

He said: “Many women prefer having their man to themselves, but there are others who are willing to share their man only if the man is capable of taking care of them.

“So, we should not see polygamy as an offence to humans. It is all about love, so share the love among them.

“However, my advice is that you should not put the interest of one over the other, treat both of them equally.”

On how he is effectively managing a peaceful polygamous home, the new groom explained that both wives live in separate houses, and he is doing his best to pay equal attention to their needs.

He said their relationship started many years ago, and despite sharing one man, both woman are living in harmony as siblings.

Recall that Obarakpor was joined in holy matrimony with two women on February 25, 2024 in Abraka.

The development, though not uncommon in Delta State, was considered rare in the busty university town that is densely populated with students, many of whom belong to the Generation Zoomer (Gen Z) with strong detest for polygamy.

Earlier in February, Obarakpo and his two wives had set many tongues wagging with a pre-wedding photoshoot showing them majestically dressed in a matching Manchester United jerseys and jeans.
