Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has offered automatic employment to Mr Joshua Ilebe, the overall best graduating student of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka in the 2022/2023 academic session.

Oborevwori made the offer while delivering a speech at the 16th convocation ceremony of DELSU held in Abraka today.

Ilebe, who graduated from the Department of Pharmacy with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.83, had appealed to the governor to offer him employment as a Graduate Assistant in DELSU.

”This has become important as it will afford me the opportunity to further my education to appreciable level and also contribute my quota towards the academic growth of my Alma mater”, he said in his valedictory speech.

Responding to the request, the governor said the student’s employment was automatic and also promised to further reward Ilebe and the second overall best graduating student, Mr Emmanuel Akpan who graduated from the Department of Animal and Environmental Biology with a CGPA of 4.82.

”The best graduating student made a request (for a job) and you know that request is automatic”, said Oborevwori to the applause of the audience.

According to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, a total of 4,776 students were awarded various degrees at the convocation.
