Residents, Motorists Decry Worsening Condition Of Abraka Roads

Residents and motorists in Abraka, Delta State, have raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of roads within the university town.
In separate interviews with DELSU Echo, they regretted that the deplorable condition of roads in the town has resulted in severe hardships for both inhabitants and commuters alike.
One of the respondents, Mr. Christmas Michael lamented that the bad roads have severly impacted businesses and commercial activities, causing delay in the transportation of goods from other parts of the state.
According to Michael, “There is nothing to write home about the road when it comes to road network in this town.
“The indigenes are being affected, no goods are coming in. The government should find a lasting solution to the road problem”.
Further underscoring the predicament, Mr. Desmond Enughwure highlighted the adverse impact on transportation timelines.
He pointed out that “a journey of 20 minutes now takes 35-40 minutes to ply because of the nature of the bad road.
“Hoodlums now use it as an advantage to gain access to their dubious and criminal activities”.

Mr. Godstime Akaruese, who also spoke on the issue, elaborated on the detrimental effects of the road’s deteriorated state on motorcyclists.
He said the potholes have turned their bikes into makeshift boats, adding that the road situation in Abraka has plunged to an unparalleled low.
In their plea to the government, these concerned citizens beseech authorities to initiate immediate measures to repair the roads and install a functional drainage system.
The overarching goal is to enhance the quality of life for the residents and all those who traverse these roads regularly.
DELSU Echo reports that the road infrastructure in Abraka has reached a critical state, posing a formidable challenge for motorists, motorcyclists, and local residents.
Inclement weather exacerbates the issue, as the absence of a proper drainage system leads to flooding, rendering the roads impassable for cars, buses, and motorcycles.
