JAMB To HND Students: We Are Not To Be Blamed For Your NYSC Exclusion

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied responsibility for the inability of some Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.

The board’s response comes after some prospective NYSC candidates accused JAMB of being responsible for their exclusion.

The spokesperson of JAMB, Fabian Benjamin, clarified that the board has no involvement or control over HND admissions.

He emphasized that JAMB’s mandate is limited to determining matriculation requirements and conducting examinations for undergraduate admissions, as well as admissions to National Diploma and Nigerian Certificate in Education courses.

The board explained that some HND graduates were admitted to their institutions for National Diploma (ND) programs without JAMB’s knowledge or involvement.

JAMB only condoned and endorsed these admissions for the ND program, and has no connection to their subsequent admission to HND programs.

JAMB described accusations against it as “preposterous” and warned that some candidates’ actions border on criminality, which the board will address soon.

The public has been urged to disregard the accusations and understand that JAMB has no mandate over HND admissions or NYSC mobilization.

JAMB has asked HND graduates not to hold the body responsible for their inability to participate in the recent National Youth Service Corps.
