DELSU Releases 2024/2025 Academic Calendar

Delta State University has officially released its approved academic calendar for the 2024/2025 academic session, with fresh students resuming on campus on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Following the resumption, Medicals and screening of fresh students will commence on Monday, October 14, 2024 and continue until Sunday, October 27.

Returning students are expected to arrive on campus on Sunday, October 27.

Registration of courses for all fresh students will begin on Monday, October 28, concurrently with the start of lectures for all students.

The university has scheduled orientation for fresh students from Wednesday, November 20 to Friday, November 22, followed by the matriculation ceremony on Saturday, November 23.

Applications for resumption of studies close on Friday, November 15, 2024.

The registration deadline for all students is Friday, December 6.

Late registration, with penalty fees, is allowed from Monday, December 9 to Friday, December 13.

Students have until Friday, December 20 to add or delete courses, and temporary withdrawal/deferment ends on Friday, December 27.

The submission of Continuous assessment (CA) scores to Heads of Departments is due on Friday, January 2025.

Lectures for first semester ends on Friday, January 24, 2025, followed by a revision week from Monday, January 27 to Friday, January 31.

First-semester exams run from Monday, February 3 to Friday, February 21, 2025.

After a two-week break, students are to resume for the second semester on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Lectures for second semester will, thereafter, commence on Monday, March 10, 2025, with Senate considering first-semester results the same day.

The second semester will end on Friday, May 30, 2025, followed by revision week and exams from June 6 to June 30, 2025.

The 2025/2026 academic session is scheduled to commence on Friday, October 6, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka, Prof Andy Egwunyenga, has called on Nigerian youths to show more interest in the study of Geography in universities to strengthen humanity’s effort to win the war of climate change and make our environment safe for habitation.

The Vice-Chancellor made the call on Wednesday in Abraka during the 108th inaugural lecture of the University titled “The War of Climate Change: Are the Troops Prepared?” which was delivered by Prof Sunday Efe, a professor of Climatology, Water Resources and Environmental Management.
