Strike: SSANU Directs Members To Down Tools, ASUU In Consultation
Following the declaration of a 2-day warning strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), workers under the aegis of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) have disclosed plans to stay away from their official duties.
According to a memo obtained by DELSU Echo, all members of SSANU at Delta State University, Abraka have been directed to proceed on the 2-day national warning strike with effect from Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th September, 2023.
The strike is part of efforts by the NLC to compel the Federal government to address the excruciating suffering and impoverishment occasioned by the abrupt removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu.

According to the memo signed by the DELSU Branch Chairman of SSANU, Comr. Monday Izu and Secretary, Comr. Emuobonuvie Denedo, the warning strike is expected to be “total and comprehensive”.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at DELSU has said it is still consulting with its stakeholders on the appropriate action concerning the proposed warning strike.
Chairman of ASUU-DELSU, Prof. Godwin Demaki told DELSU Echo in a telephone interview that members of the union are already on notice and would make its decision known soon.
