OPINION: The Fortuities Of WhatsApp Deletion Among Youths

WhatsApp is one of the pedestrian media of mobile interaction and a popular social media platform that is cheaper, and easily accessible, with comprehensive features and uniqueness, among others. Many people prefer WhatsApp because the media’s global presence as it is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is circumscribed, as the people connected in WhatsApp are informal, easily identified and accessible.

Spitefully, many WhatsApp users have lost interest and precedence by disregarding their adept communication attitude in this media platform because of pressure, random monetary demands, relationship ties and relative criticisms from communal circles as well as panamiga.

A stunning display of achievements and nice pictures on WhatsApp can attract gross reactions being expressed via emojis or in words. At the same time, such a display may attract a call for assistance emotionally and most especially in finance because “a show of good look speaks of the buoyancy of one’s pocket”.

Many viewers who access one’s status always request financial support and when the donor is unable to respond as expected, it creates hatred and resentment, thinking the person has the capacity but refuses to assist as he is posting nice pictures. “He is enjoying…..” they claim. The level of pressure many users experience on WhatsApp is very alarming, making them ‘go bananas’.

Many mutual relationships have been in duress, especially for those who are conversant with public display of affections. It is no longer safe for one to post his/her spouse on status because it attracts demeaning criticism, snatching by interest and mischievous interference. This leads to depression, feelings of insecurity and perfectionism thereby causing cop-out of the media community.

The most dreadful upshot about WhatsApp is the emergence of GB WhatsApp. In as much as social media is a spotlight for incessant advancement and innovation by conciliation, it is also a technological demon by escapade. Internet Communication Technology is extolling every day.

A GB Whatsapp normally usable on Android mobile devices has some drawback features that make viewers invincible (ghost viewers) such that you may not know that someone is watching your space anonymously even those you don’t expect to exist in your contact list. So many WhatsApp users rage at others because they feel some posts are defining their nature or meant for them thereby constituting social engineering and cyberbullying as it messes up their emotions and finally leads to the excision of WhatsApp accounts, user blocking and social Isolation.

WhatsApp can be a safe medium of communication when users grow increasingly invulnerable to cyberattacks and media’s negative impacts on mental health through being vigilant, moderate exposure to private life and viewing information in general ambiguity and impulsion.
