Charity Begins At Home? Police Arraign Man Who Allegedly Stole Clothes From His Mother
Tum Joseph, a 30-year-old man, stood before the Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State on Tuesday, accused of pilfering a mattress and clothing items from his own mother.
The charges against Joseph encompass criminal intimidation, inciting a disturbance of public peace, and theft.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Esther Bishen, the defendant’s mother, Bridget, residing in Ungwan Fari, Kafanchan, reported the incident to the Kafanchan Divisional Police Station on July 7.
The complainant, while attending to her ailing husband at the hospital, received unsettling news that her son had absconded with belongings from their home.
Among the stolen items were a mattress, two containers of herbicide chemical, 10 yards of fabric, and a selection of her husband’s attire.
During the investigation, the police recovered the stolen mattress from the possession of the defendant.
Additionally, it was revealed that Joseph had been verbally abusive and disrespectful to his mother.
